Fragments

These are a series of small experimental works in varying media. They focus on small stacks, or mini piles that create a sense of play while addressing both Eastern and Western histories and our misperceptions of them. Is an established “Canon” of art more significant than a collected Chinese trinket? What does a pyramid hold up? What is it that we should strive to have, to be, to own in life? What hurts and what nourishes? All of these questions arise from these small “sketches” which allow me to think through a larger developing idea.
