breaking bread
This project involved mirrored community collaborations in the Northern Ireland cities of LondonDerry and Belfast, in which I invited locals to particpate with me in printing/bread blackening workshops with me. I first gathered of slices of different types of bread from Derry and Belfast local bakeries and then brought people together to make bread prints, with each slice a symbol of self as stemming from one place in the world, no matter the historical or spiritual differences that they may take away with them. Once the bread was blackened, I invited the community to patch up a portion of an eroded wall or communal structure at each location, using the blackened bread as “bricks” and peanut butter as mortar to symbolize the Artnauts Collective, of which I am a member and who started in the U.S. where peanut butter came to its current form.
